Foster Youth

Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program

Ages 11-19

The terrible irony is that, all too often, the very trauma that lands youth in foster care is what prevents them from feeling safe and secure there. YES provides not only a safe, home-like environment but critical, trauma-informed support services to foster care youth through our Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP). Throughout the 6-month program, services are provided in a large Craftsman house in the heart of Hollywood by a 24/7, multidisciplinary support team.

The STRTP serves youth who are referred by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and who have been diagnosed by the Department of Mental Health as requiring specialty mental health services.

Program Goals & Objectives

Through STRTP, we work to address the mental health diagnosis of each youth and to dismantle the barriers that can prevent foster youth from thriving in a family setting. Upon intake, YES’s Program Team works with each new resident to establish their self-directed Individualized Service Plan; always considering their unique strengths, needs and abilities. Our Support Services staff also work with each youth on case management, mental health therapy, education plans, career development and life skills, to further them on their path to self-sufficiency and reduce their time in congregate care.
