Education & Career Development

YES’s TLP Educational Track and support services provide the resources to succeed in multiple traditional and non-traditional educational environments, from high school to post-secondary education. We believe education is critically important so we work to ensure that our youth are fully equipped with the skillset to excel in post-secondary education at a two- or four-year college or university.

YES’s TLP Employment Track and Career Development Services give youth the tools to land a full-time position at a livable wage. Our training program offers youth a variety of opportunities (paid internships, job readiness training/workshops, vocational training, long-term career planning) to learn skills that contribute to their employability and workplace competence.

Mental Health Therapy

YES’s Mental Health Services provide comprehensive, trauma-informed counseling and therapy in a safe and supportive environment. Assessment takes place upon intake to identify each youth’s individual needs and interests for individual and group therapy. For youth who have endured tremendous trauma, this is a valuable opportunity to heal and to prepare for self-sufficient, independent living.

Mental Health Services include: group and individual therapy sessions, family counseling and therapy, recreational therapy, behavioral Therapy, art therapy, substance abuse counseling, stress management, violence prevention, sexual health education, conflict mediation and resolution.

Life Skills Training

YES’s Transitional Living Program will work with residents to identify independent living skills that require further development. Youth will establish concrete goals, work individually with program staff and participate in all required Life Skills groups. Each participant will develop a portfolio of resources, goals and achievements as they progress through the program.

Social & Enrichment Activities

Youth are encouraged to stay active and engaged in the world as a form of self-care, social development and personal enrichment. So we incorporate culturally diverse activities, including hiking, museums, movies, outdoor activities, sporting events, concerts and more.

the staying strong program

As our youth prepare to transition to permanent home-based settings — through family reunification, transitional housing or independent living arrangements — they also transition into our Staying Strong Program. This program continues to provide mental health therapy, case management and support services to prevent a return to homelessness and to ensure each youth has the support and resources they need to maintain stability for a healthy, fulfilling future.
